This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use writewiser.ai (the “Website”) and the WriteWiser Chrome Extension (the “Extension”).

1. What We Collect

1.1 Account Data

• Email address – used for authentication, account communication, and receipts.
• Display name (optional) – used to personalize your experience.

1.2 Subscription & Billing

We process payments via third-party providers (e.g., Paddle). We do not store full card details. Providers act as independent controllers of payment data.

1.3 Usage Data

We store only usage statistics such as rewrite counts and plan limits to enforce fair use. Basic technical telemetry (browser type, OS, region) helps maintain reliability and security.

1.4 Content You Rewrite

We do not store or retain the text you select or rewrite. The Extension sends your text to our backend only for processing and returns the rewritten result. Logs omit the raw content.

1.5 Cookies & Local Storage

Cookies keep you signed in on the Website. The Extension stores an access token and refresh token locally; you can revoke them anytime.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide authentication and session management
• Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
• Support and communicate with users
• Improve reliability, performance, and security

3. Sharing

We do not sell data. We share only with trusted processors:

• Supabase (auth, database, storage)
• Paddle / Stripe / Gumroad (payment)
• AI model providers (OpenAI, Google) for rewrite inference — content is processed but never stored.

4. Data Retention

• Account and subscription metadata: kept while active
• Usage counters: rolling logs for limit enforcement
• Access/refresh tokens: stored locally in the extension
• Rewrite text: never stored

5. Your Rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data via support@writewiser.ai.

6. Children

We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13 years of age.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We use role-based access and audit logging.

8. International Transfers

Data may be processed in the EU or US by our vendors under lawful safeguards (e.g., SCCs).

9. Changes

We will update this page for material changes and adjust the “Last Updated” date above.
